Samuel Buttner, Area Sportsman, Is Cardiac Victim
Samuel K. Buttner, 51, of 1 Memorial parkway, Phillipsburg, died unexpectedly yesterday at his home. He was found dead in bed by his wife and a friend, Donald Jennings, of Phillipsburg, who was to have worked with Mr. Buttner on a dog shelter.
Mr. Buttner was pronounced dead by Dr. Lewis E. Genninger, of Phillipsburg. Dr. N.C. Marlett, Warren County Physician, said death was caused by a heart attack.
An active sportsman, Mr. Buttner was president of the Greenwich Sportsmen’s Association. He was a delegate of the Warren county Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs and the New Jersey Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs.
Born April 28, 1907, in Williams Township, he was a son fo the late Frank and Tillie Kieffer Buttner. He had lived in Phillipsburg for the last 23 years.
Mr. Buttner was employed for 16 years in the storeroom of the drill division of the Ingersoll-Rand Co. he was a member of the Ingersoll-Rand Co. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Williams Township.
In addition to his widow, the former Grace H. Dunlap, he is survived by two sons, Samuel F., of Williamstown, N.J., and Willard, at home; a stepson, John R. Vivian, Phillipsburg; a daughter, Mrs. Joyce Griffard, St. Genevieve, Mo.; five brothers, John, Easton; Robley and Charles, Williams Township, and Edgar and Willard, of toledo, Ohio; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Hagenbuch and Mrs. Beulah Kandl, of Williams Township, and Mrs. Helen Huff, of Easton, and seven grandchildren.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Shillinger Funeral Home, Easton. |
