Russell P. Beam, former Washington mayor
Russell P. Beam, 84, of Warren Haven, the Warren county nursing home in Mansfield
Township, died Thursday, Dec. 7, in the home.
He served two terms as mayor of Washington from 1952 to 1965,
and served on town council from 1960 to 1962.
He retired in 1976 as warehouse manager at Fairfield Linens.
Prior to that, he worked at Consumer's Research in Washington
for 18 years.
Born Dec. 7, 1911, he was a son of the late Lester and Anna
Perry Beam.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Washington.
He was a charter member of the Washington Emergency Squad,
a member of Washington Fire Department, the former Washington
Men's Glee Club and Mansfield Lodge 36, F&AM, of Washington.
Serviving are his wife, the former Bernice Bergfels, of Mansfield
Township; two daughters, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be held t 3 p.m. Sunday in Ford funeral Home,
234 W. Washington Ave., Washington. There will be no calling
hours. Burial will be in Musconetcong Valley Cemetery in Hampton.
