Sgt. C. R. Bast, Son of Former Eastonian, Dies
Sgt. Clark R. Bast, 30 years old son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter
F. Bast, of Chadwicks, N.Y., died Aug 5, followinig an illness
in North Africa according to message received by his parents.
Sgt. Bast was born in Philipsburg, and moved with his family
to Chadwicks 15 years ago. He was induced into the Army July
15 ,1942, and received traiing at Fort McClellan Ala., Camp
A. P. Hill, Va., and Camp Kilmer, New Brusnwick, N.J. He landed
in Casablanca with the First Armoned Division, and was attached
to the Task Force, Headquarters Compnay, of the Seventh Army
under Lieut. Gen George S. Patton, Jr.
The former Phillipsburg boy was graduated from Chadwicks High
School and the Utica School of Commerce. At the time of his
induction, he was employed in teh Unitee States Engineers Office
at Rome, N.Y., in the department of audit and finance. He was
a racing pigeon enthusiast and a well-known ballplayer in his
home area.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brothers,
Lieut S. Brooks Bast, Stationed at Camp Adiar, Ore. His mother
is the former Miss Blanche Krantz, daughter of te late Mr.
and Mrs. Garibaldi Krantz, and a sister of Miss Helen Kratnz,
Clifford Krantz, Clark Krantz, Russell Krantz, and Wlater Krantz,
all of Easton. |
