Howard Rothrock, Former Blacksmith
Howard C. Rothrock, 86, of Hecktown, Bethlehem R. 1, a former blacksmith for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, died Friday in St. Luke’s Hospital.
Rothrock worked for the highway department for 10 years until he retired in 1961. Prior to that, he operated a blacksmith shop in Butztown.
He was the husband of the late Jennie (Stein) Rothrock who died in 1967.
Born in Hellertown, he was a son of the late Michael and Liza A. (Sheets) Rothrock.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran church, Farmersville, and a charter member of the Nancy Run Fire Co. of Butztown.
Surviving are two sons, Floyd, with whom he resided, and Alvin of Nazareth; a sister, Mrs. Sally Koch, of Spring Valley, and six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in the Bartholomew Funeral Home, 211 E. Center St. Nazareth. Calling hours will be 7-9 p.m. Sunday. |
