Oscar C.O. Young, 55, of 617 North12th Street, Allentown, a Reading Co. fireman, was pronounced dead on arrival at Sacred Heart Hospital, Allentown, last night.
Lehigh County Coroner Clayton O.P.Werley said that Mr. Young apparently died of a heart attack as he was starting his car to keep an appointment with his doctor. Mr. Young was found in his car by Ernest Schuler, 1717 Helen Ave., Allentown, an hour and 10 minutes after he had left work at East Penn Junction. The car's motor was running. Police were summoned & Mr. Young was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital. Werley said that an autopsy would be performed today.
Born Easton, Mr. Young was a son of Mrs. Annie Shimer Young, Tatamy, & the late Stewart Young. He had resided in Allentown for the last 35 years. Mr. Young had been employed by the Reading Co. for the last 13 years. He served with the U.S. Army during the early 1920's.
Mr. Young was a member of Salem Evangelical & Reformed Church, Allentown & the Brotherhood of Locomotive Fireman & Engineers.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his widow, the former Ruth N. Frantz; a son Lt. Robert C. Young, with the U.S. Army in Anchorage, Alaska; a daughter, Mrs. James H. Boyer, Allentown; 2 brot-
hers, Clarence E. Young, Easton, and James Young, Nazareth; 5 sisters, Mrs. Mae Uhler, East Bangor; Mrs. Esther Reagan, Nazareth RD#3; and Mrs. Helen DeReamus, Mrs. Nellie Liske, and Mrs. Laura Snyder, all of Tatamy; and 4 grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Trexler Funeral Home, Allentown.
