Homer Wetzel Jr. -- Army veteran
Homer S. Wetzel Jr., 71, of Bethlehem, formerly of Freemansburg, died Friday, July 28, in St. Luke's Hospital. He worked as a painter for ABE Construction, retiring in 1993 after 25 years.
Born Nov. 13, 1928, in Easton, he was a son of the late Homer S. Sr. and Elsie Mae Fogel Wetzel.
He served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of the Freemansburg American Legion and Freemansburg Lions Club, a life member of the Jefferson Democratic Club of Bethlehem, where he played on its shuffleboard team, and the Independent Citizens Club of Miller Heights and a past president of the Freemansburg Fire Department. He was an avid outdoorsman.
He is survived by his companion, **** of Bethlehem; a daughter, **** of Bethlehem; a son, **** of Bethlehem; two brothers, ***** of Saylorsburg and Stewart of West Easton; two sisters, Arlene Rice and *****, both of Nazareth; and two grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden St., Bethlehem. Call 9 a.m. to time of services Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. |
