Carl R. Werkheiser, 84, of Nazareth, formerly of Bangor, Pa,
and Belvidere, NJ, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2005 at Lehigh
Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg in Bethlehem.
Born: On June 4, 1920 in Easton, he was a son of the late George
R. and Margaret Lehr Werkheiser.
Personal: His wife the former
Dorothy Everitt Pursell passed away in 1979. He resided at
Gracedale for the last four years. Prior to that, he lived
in Bangor for 19 years, and he also lived in Belvidere, NJ
and Williams Township. At one time he worked at the Chipman
Knitting Mill. Later, he worked at the Metropolitan Edison
Co. He also had been a supervisor at the Morey-LaRue Laundries.
He was last owner of Werkheiser Florist in Belvidere for 20
years, retiring in 1982. In retirement, he worked for Globe
Security. Carl attended Easton High School. He received certificates
from Rutgers University and Penn State University in Horticulture.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with the Army
Engineers with the 7th Armored Division in the European Theatre.
He was of the Lutheran faith.
Memberships: Carl was a 50 year member of the Dallas-Lafayette
Lodge #396, F & AM, Easton. He was also a 50 year member
of the Easton Forest #35, Tall Cedars of Lebanon.
Survivors: He is survived by a son, ****. of Williams Township,
Pa; two step-sons, **** of Lake Canadaigua, NY,
***** of Belvidere, NJ; two step-daughters, ***** of Mt. Lake,
White Township, NJ, ***** of Lower Mt. Bethel Township,
Pa; a sister, Frances P. Kunsman, with whom he resided in Bangor,
Pa; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Five brothers,
Harold, Roger, Richard, James and Robert, and two sisters,
Betty and Elsie Kunsman, and a step-sister, Esther Graeff,
all died earlier.
Services: Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m.
in the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg,
NJ. Masonic services will be held on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
in the funeral home. Calling hours will be held on Thursday
from 7 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Northampton
Memorial Shrine, Palmer Township. |
