Injury Brought Death
Aged Man Who Was Run Down by Locomotive Died at Hospital.
Benjamin Walter, who on March 11 had a leg so badly mashed by being run over by a train on the Pennsylvania railroad at Phillipsburg that it had to be amputated at the Easton Hospital, died at the latter institution at 10:30 o'clock this morning. He was 70 years of age and resided with his son, Harleigh Walter, on Morris Street, Phillipsburg. Besides the son with whom he lived he leaves the following children: Mrs. Frank Diehl, of Easton; Mrs. Daniel Smith, of Stewartsville, N.J., George F. Walter, Evan D. Walter and Claude Walter, of Springtown, N.J. two sisters, Mrs. George Tinsman, of Newark, N.J. and Mrs. Adam Moyer, of Ohio; two brothers, Daniel and Stephen Walter of Easton, and one half-brother, Jeremiah Bowers, also of Easton.
Deceased was a veteran of the Civil War. He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, of this city. The remains were taken to the home of Harleigh Walter.
