Injuries Suffered In Fall Fatal To Mrs. R. E. Eckert
Mrs. Marie E. Eckert, 73, of 710 Brodhead street, died in
Easton Hospital at 1:25 a.m. today of injuries suffered on
Wednesday when she fell from a second-story window at her
home.
Mrs. Eckert was taken by ambulance shortly after she lost
her balance while sitting on a sill washing an upstairs window.
Coroner Martin J. Bechtel said she suffered fractures of
both legs and died of traumatic shock resulting from the
injuries. He ruled the death an accident.
Mrs. Eckert was the widow of Russell E. Eckert, who with
the late William E. Churchman founded Churchman Business
College. Mr. Eckert, who later conducted a public accounting
firm here, died in 1937.
Born in Easton on April 19l, 1879, Mrs. Eckert was a daughter
of the late Enos and Clementine Hahn Walter. She was a lifelong
resident of this city
In former years she was active in the Order of the Eastern
Star, and in Siloam Shrine 13, White Shrine of Jerusalem.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Mickel, and one
granddaughter, Carolyn Louis Mickel, both at home. |
