Elwood J. Walter
Elwood J. Walter, 80, formerly of North Broad Street Extension
in Nazareth, suffered a heart attack Sunday in his home at
706 Pelzer Highway in Countryside Village in Easley, S.C,
and was pronounced ded at the Baptist Medical Center in Easley.
He resided in South Carolina 10 months.
He was employed by the former Penn-Dixie Cement Co. plant
5 in Nazareth for 20 years befroe retiring in 1975. Earlier
in life he was a knitter for the former Chipman Knitting
Mills in Easton for 25 years.
Born Sept. 12, 1909, in Bushkill Township, Pa., he was a
son of the late John S. and Bertie Lieberman Walter.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Belfast, Pa.,
and Belfast Rod and Gun Club.
He and his wife, the former Ellen Butz, should have been
married 51 years on Monday.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter,
a brother Raymond of Tatamy, Pa., and two grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Grace Lutheran
church in Belfast. Interment will be in Belfast Union Cemetery
in Belfast. he Schmidt Mortuary in Nazareth is in charge
of arrangements.
