Sterling W. Washburn, 76, of 23 Bullman St., Phillipsburg,
died last night in Warren Hospital where he was a patient
since Tuesday.
He was a machinist in the drill division of Ingersoll-Rand
Co., Phillipsburg, for 20 years, retired in 1970. He formerly
worked for Taylor-Wharton Co., Palmer Township.
Born in Wilson, on June 7, 1904, he was a son the late William
and Cora Aber Washburn. He lived in Phillipsburg the past 37
years, formerly living in Stewartsville 19 years.
He and his wife, the former Evelyn Spence, celebrated their
56th wedding anniversary on April 19.
Mr. Washburn was a member of the First Lutheran church, Stewartsville;
the Greenwich Friendship Club, and the Harmony Seniors Club.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, a daughter,
eight grandchildren and
10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Rupell Funeral
home, Phillipsburg. Interment will be in Eston Heights Cemetery. |
