Robert R. Unangst, 68, of East Stroudsburg died Saturday,
Dec. 4, in Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. He was
the husband of Edna E. (Garris) Unangst. They were married
for 47 years in July.
He was a lieutenant in the New Jersey Department of Corrections,
Annandale facility, until retiring in 1985. Previously, he
was chief of police of Knowlton Township, N.J.
Born in Easton, he was a son of the late Raymond G. and Elsie
(Stauffeur) Unangst.
He was a member of Knowlton United Methodist Church, Columbia,
N.J.
He was a past president and captain of the Portland and Vicinity
Ambulance Corps; mobilization director for the 13th District,
New Jersey First Aid Council, and member of the New Jersey
Patrolmen's Benevolent Association and National Rifle Association.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
A Mason, he was a member of Blairstown (N.J.) Lodge 165; Ancient
Accepted Scottish Rite, Allentown, and Royal Arch Temple Chapter
12, Washington, N.J.
Survivors: Wife; son, ; brothers, two granddaughters and a
great-granddaughter.
Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday in the church. Call 7-8:30 p.m.
