Bertram Unangst, Operated Garage
Bertram Unangst, 29, of Easton R.D. 4, yesterday was found
dead at 1:40 p.m. yesterday in the ground floor bedroom of
his home, Northampton County, Coroner Joseph Reichel ruled
the death a suicide. State police at Easton said Unangst discharged
a 20-gauge shotgun into the left side of his throat. The discovery
was made by Unangst’s wife.
Born in Lower Saucon Township, on Sept. 26, 1928, he was a
son of Mrs. Catherine Young Unangst, now of Martin’s
Creek, and the late Bertram C. Unangst.
He attended Easton schools and was employed by Pep Boys, Easton,
or several years. He later was employed by Tindall and Ruschman
Auto Parts, Williams Township. For the last 1 ½ years
he operated a garage adjoining his home.
He was a ember of the Williams Township Sportsmen’s
Association and the Williams Township Fire Company.
Survivors include his widow, the former Irene Meseros; two
daughters, Donna and Brenda, and seven stepchildren, Mary Ann,
Gail, JoAnn, Dianne, Richard, Eugene and Gary, all at home;
two brothers, Frederick, Williams Township, and Robert with
the U. S. Navy, Norfolk, Va., and two sisters, Cora, wife of
Russell Sacks, Greenland R.D.1, Pa., and Fay Unangst, Martin’s
Creek.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Katinis
Funeral Chapel, Wilson.
