Valentine Uhler, owned grocery in Allentown
Valentine E. Uhler, 86, of Phoebe Apartments, 1901 Linden St., Allentown formerly of 40 S. Madison St., Allentown, died Monday in the Luther Crest Nursing Facility, Allentown.
He was owner and operator of the former Allentown Food Market form1941 to 1955. Before that, he was associated with the National Provision Co., Allentown, for 21 years.
Born Aug. 5, 1897, in Stockerton, he was a son of the late Ephraim and Carrie M. Hinkle Uhler.
Mr. Uhler was a member of Christ Lutheran Church; Greenleaf Lodge 561, F&AM, and the Lehigh consistory, all of Allentown and Rajah Temple, Reading. He was a 50-year member of the Odd Fellows, Allentown.
His wife, the former Ida Serfass, died in1970.
Surviving are a daughter, *****, Wilson, two brothers, Sherman of Ambler, pa and Raymond of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a sister, Naomi Uhler, Nazareth; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. |
