Lester Stocker Is Dead in Las Vegas
Lester Stocker, 42, son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Stocker, Clark
county pioneers, passed away this afternoon at his home, 605
south third street, after a brief illness.
Stocker had been suffering from a liver afflication for some
time and was ordered to bed a few days ago. He gradually grew
weaker until this afternoon when he breathed his last.
Besides his parents he is survived by two brothers, Clarence
and Harold.
Funeral arrangments have not been announced as yet.

Stocker Rites to Be On Thursday
Funeral srvices for the late Lester Stocker will be held from
the Las Vegas Episcopal church tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon
at three o'clock, Reverend Arthur Kean officiating, it was
announced today by surviving members of the family.
Stocker passed away in this city Monday afternoon after a
protracted illness from which he wasbeen suffereing for the
past three years.
Deceased was born in Reading, Pennsylvania, November 16, 1892,
and was 42 years old at the time of his death.
He came to Las Vegas with his parents in 1910 and worked for
several years for the Los Angeles & Salt Lake railroad
in the car department. Several years ago he became associated
with his brothers in the operation of the Northern Hotel and
Club in this city, and was so associateduntil the time of his
death.
Stocker was a charter member of the Las Vegas Elks lodge,
and for many years was active in the work of the Odd Fellows,
serving as chaplain of Artesia lodge for a number of years.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. O.C. stocker of
this city, and his two brothers, Clarence and Harold.
Pall-bearers, volunteers from among his intimate friends,
include; Mark Burgess, John Connelly, J.H. Morgan, Seth Pickett,
Tom Sheppard and Glen Frazier.
Interment will be in Woodlawn cemetery. |
