Frank W. Steckel, Postman 35 Years
Frank W. Steckel, 83, of 2031 Washington Blvd., Wilson, died
today in Easton Hospital.
Born in Easton, on Feb. 19, 1896, he was a son of the late
John and Anna C. Sassaman Steckel, he was a lifelong resident
of the Easton Area.
He was a letter carrier with the Easton Post Office for over
35 years, retiring in 1956.
He was formerly a weaver at area silk mills and worked in
the Lehigh Valley Railroad Office.
He was a Army veteran of World War I, serving as a sergeant
first class in the Medical Corps.
He was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wilson;
an honorary member of Easton Lodge No. 152, F&AM; a life
member of the Order of Fleas, Easton; a charter member of the
Wilson Borough Republican Club, and a member of the National
Association of Retired Federal Employees.
He was graduated from Churchman Business College.
Surviving are his wife, the former Della B. Plum; two daughters,
Mrs. Frances Lipary, Ventura, Calif., and Mrs. Margaret Tooma,
Forks Township; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Ashton
Funeral Home, Easton. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial
Shrine. |
