Stephen Smith
Stephen Smith, 82 years old, a native and almost life-long
resident of Ross Township, Monroe county, died early today
in Rosenkrans Hospital, east Stroudsburg, where he was admitted
last Wednesday for medical treatment. He retired from farming
about 10 years ago. Earlier in his life he resided in Hazleton
for about seven years, where he was employed in coal mines.
He was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Mt. Eaton
church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alice Prior Smith; these
children; William E. Smith, Nazareth; George A. Smith, Nazareth
R. D1; Mrs. George Kichline, Bethlehem; Alvin B. Smith, Kellersville,
Monroe county,; Earl S. Smith, Bethlehem; Mrs. Lawrence Tremmel,
Bethlehem; Warren F. Smith, Nazareth; Mrs. Joyal Fordner, at
home, and Mrs. Edwin Schmauder, Pen Argyl; 11 grandchildren,
four great-grandchildren, and these brothers, Frank Smith,
Weissport R.D.1; Israel Smith, Nazareth R. D. 3; Adam Smith,
Nazareth, and Freeman Smith, Nazareth R.D. 2.
Funeral services will be held at the Schmidt home, Wind Gap
on Thursday at 2 p.m. in charge of the Rev. Norman B. Kellow,
and interment will be in Plainfield Cemetery.
