Rev. J. Purman Shook, Native of Mt. Bethel
The Rev. J. Furman shook, 79, a former pastor of the Emory Methodist Church, Jersey City, died of a heart ailment Tuesday in Pine Acres Nursing home, Madison, N.J. He had been ill for some time.
He resided at 46 Green Village Rd. Madison, and was a member of the Madison Rotary Club and the old Guard of Summit, N.J. He was born in Mount Bethel, Northampton County.
Surviving are his widow, the former Judith Rowell, two sons, Wilbur R., Ridgewood, N.J. and James Purman Jr., a civilian on Okinawa, a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Thompson, Mountainside, N.J, a brother, Charles R., Bangor, a sister, Mrs. Cora Allen, Pen Argyl, and five grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Burroughs L. Kohr Funeral Home, Madison. |
