Peter H Seip
Peter H. Seip, a well-known and respected resident of Wilson borough,
died during the night at his home, 1615 Northampton street. He had
not been well for some time but when we went to bed last evening he
appeared to be in fairly good health. He was 77 years old.
Mr. Seip was a native of Palmer township and was a son of the late
Jacob and Annie M. Edelman Seip. The paternal grandfather Jacob Seip
built the Seipsville Hotel in 1780 and was the man for whom the village
of Seipsville was named.
For many years Peter H. Seip took an active interest in the affairs
of Palmer Township. About a year go he resigned as a member of the
county board of viewers after serving over ten years . For many years
he served as a director of the Citizens; Mutual Fire Insurance Company
of Northampton County. resigning from that office two years ago.
For thirty years he served as treasurer of Black Knight Commandery,
No. 109, Knights of Malta, of this city, having been elected to office
at the time of the institution of the commandery. He was a member of
the First Reformed Church of this city.
Mrs. Seip is survived by two sons, Asher Seip, of Easton, and Jacob
W. Seip of Fort Doge Iowa and one daughter, Alice E. Simmons: also
two sisters, Mrs. Emma E. Hess, wife of Peter J. Hess, of Bethlehem
and Mrs. Sarah M. Bowers, wife of Oscar F. Bowers of Easton.
