William F. Schlamb, World War II Veteran
William F. Schlamb, 72, of 328 South Northampton St., Bangor,
died Thursday, July 25, in Easton Hospital, where he was a
patient since Tuesday.
He was a mechanic for the former Blue Ridge Winkler textile
co. in Bangor for 24 years, retiring in 1982. Prior to that
he worked as an automobile mechanic for Dietrich’s Chevrolet
in Pen Aryl for 10 years. He also worked as a mechanic for
Paul Willie, who raced at Dorney Park years ago.
Born May 7, 1924, in Wind Gap, he was a son of the late Franklin
C. and Myrtie Miller Schlamb.
He was a member of the first United Evangelical Congregational
Church in Bangor.
He was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Force serving
in the African theater.
He was past secretary of the Second Ward Fire co. in Bangor,
and was an active member of 34 years.
He was a member of Bangor Lodge 565, F&AM, and was a 32
degree Mason and member of the Lehigh consistory Valley of
Allentown. He was also a member of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon
in Easton.
He and his wife, the former Lucy Anderson, observed their
49th wedding anniversary Sept 21.
In addition to his wife, he is revived by a sister, Anna Sandt
of Nazareth; a brother, George of Nazareth; two nieces and
one nephew.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the Hough Home
for funeral, 207 Market St. Bangor. Call 7 to 9 p.m. Monday
in the funeral home, with Bangor fire Department services at
7:30.
Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Bangor. |
