Cyrus A. Ruth, 56, Steicken in Cab At Bethlehem Plant
Cyrus A. Ruth, 56, of 202 Durham Street, Hellertown, a fireman
for Philadelphia, Bethlehem and New England Railroad, died
unexpectedly yesterday about 1 p.m. while at work at the Bethlehem
Steel Co.
Fellow employees of Mr. Ruth, who were going to lunch, found
the man in the cab of a diesel engine, Dr. Samuel Stoumen,
of Bethlehem, deputy Northampton County coroner, said death
was due to a heart attack.
Born on April 19, 1894 in Kintersville, Bucks County, Mr.
Ruth was a son of the late Harvey and Alavesta Rub Ruth. He
was a veteran of World War I. serving as a cook at Camp Meade,
Md., with Company C. of the 153 rd Depot Brigade.
He had been employed by the railroad of the steel company
for the last 15 years. Mr. Ruth was a charter member of Edward
H. Ackerman Post 397, American Legion, Hellertown; and a member
of Castle 112, Knights of the Golden Eagle; Local 815, Brotherhood
of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers; and Christ Evangelical
Reformed Church, Hellertown.
Surviving are his wife, Velma Dull Ruth; two daughters, the
Misses Evelyn V. and Lenore M., both at home; a stepbrother,
Wilson Wilson Fluck, of Easton, and a sister, Mrs. Tillie Meilinger,
of Hellertown R.D.1
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Templeton
funeral home, Hellertown. Interment will be in Springtown Cemetery,
Bucks County. |
