Harold Peifer, Retired Navy Lt. Commander
Lt. Cmdr. Harold E. Peifer, 61, a retired U.S. Navy officer,
died last night at the Navel Hospital at Annapolis, Md. He
was a native of Easton.
Cmdr. Peifer was a brother of the late Raymond E. Peifer,
secretary of the Easton School District from 1911 to 1947.
Raymond Peifer died in 1953.
Cmdr. Peifer was a graduate of Easton High School, Class of
1914, and attended Lafayette College for two years, 1914 to
1916. he was graduated from the U. S. Navel Academy in 1920.
Born in Easton May 6, 1896, he was a son of the late Elmer
and Alice Moser Peifer. He had resided in Annapolis for a number
of years.
After retiring from active navel duty, Cmdr. Peifer raised
flowers as a hobby. His entries won prized in several shows.
Cmdr. Peifer was a member of Delta Tau Delta. He was active
in Masonic orders.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Betty Peifer; a son, Harold
E. Jr., Hialeah, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. M. L. Kresge, Northfield,
Ill., and one grandchild.
The funeral will beheld at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Shillinger
Funeral Home, Easton. |
