Edith Miler, Area Teacher for 60 Years
Miss Edith G. Miller, 79, a schoolteacher for 60 years, died at 4:30 a.m. today at her home, 909 Spring Garden St. She was ill two days.
Miss Miller taught fourth grade at the Vanderveer School from 1912 until her retirement in June 1949. Before that she taught at Martin’s Creek from 1899 to 1908 and in Wilson from 1909 to 1912.
Miss Miller was a graduate of East Stroudsburg State Normal School, now east Stroudsburg State Teachers College.
Born Aug. 8, 1880, in Lower Mount Bethel Township, she was daughter of the late William S. and Margret Uhler Miller. She lived in Easton most of her life.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Third Lutheran Church, Easton.
Her nearest relatives are an uncle, the Rev. George Uhler, Lewisburg, and two cousins. A brother, Laurence Miller, died in February 1968.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Heck Memorial Home, Easton. |
