Frank E. Messinger, 97, formerly of Easton, died Saturday
in the State Belt Medical Center. He was the husband of Hilda
M. (Sterner) Messinger.
He was a shipping clerk at Bethlehem Steel Corp. for 17
years before retiring in 1972. He previously was a baker
for Schaible's Bakery, Wilson.
Born in Horton, Kan., he was a son of the late Allen and
Clara (Sloyer) Messinger.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Bangor.
He organized the Harmony Four and sang in the barbershop
quartet for 20 years until the 1950s.
Surviving with his widow are four sons, Maynard A. and Ernest
C. both of Nazareth, and Raymond F. of Berwick, Columbia
County, and Harvey G. of Easton; two daughters, Lorraine
Farekas and Doris Castner, both of Easton; 21 grandchildren
and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the church. Calling
hours will be 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the
Ashton Funeral Home, 14th and Northampton streets, Easton.
