Col. J. T. McCabe, native of Easton
Retired Army Col. John Terrance McCabe, 64, of Fairfax, Va.,
a native of Easton, died Jan 16 in DeWitt Army Hospital, Fort
Belvoir, Va.
He was director of the the financial data systems division
of the Army Finance Corp., Fort Belvoir, until retrining in
1973.
Born in Easton, he was a son of the late Alfred A. and Theresa
McCabe.
A graduate of Easton Catholic High School, he also was graduated
from Churchman Business School and received a bachelor's degree
in governement from George Washington University. He earned
a master's degeree in business admininstration at Syracuse
University and also attended st. Louis University.
Col. McCabe enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1941 and served
the Southwest Pacific Theater during World War II.
After the war he held staff positions as a fianance andpersonnel
officer in the Pentagon and elsewhere in the United States.
He also was stationed in West Berlin, Germany.
From 1965 to 19676, during the Vietnam War, he served as comptroller
of the mMilitary Assistance Command's accounting division.
Col. McCabe was a member of the Regired Officers Association,
and treasurere of the Bren Mar Civic Association, Alexandria
Va. He was a recipient of the Papal Apostolic Blessing and
had been decorated with trhee Legion of Merit awares.
Sruving are his wife, the former Eleanor Mary Whalen, and
two sons.
