SANFORD — Clifford Marsh, 80, of Sanford, died on Friday, May 8, 2015 at Southern Maine Health Care in Sanford following a brief illness.
Cliff was born in Roseto, Pennsylvania on March 15, 1935 to Charles and Emma (Lewis) Marsh. He grew up in Bangor, Pennsylvania where he attended local schools.
When he was a young man he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and proudly served for more than 20 years, including two tours in Vietnam. After completing his military service he went to work for CYRO in Sanford, where he stayed for 20 years until his retirement.
Cliff was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time outside and taking annual hunting trips to northern Maine.
He was a life member of the NRA and was a devout Catholic. He had been a communicant of St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish.
Cliff was always a very optimistic man with a positive attitude. He will be remembered as a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Cliff was preceded in death by: his parents; and by his first wife, Gloria (McGrath) Marsh.
He is survived by: his wife, Sylvia (Brunette) Marsh of Sanford; his son, ***** of Alfred; three siblings, all of Pennsylvania; two stepdaughters, two step-grandchildren, a step-great grandson, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12 at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, located at 29 Winter St. in Sanford.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13 at St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish, Notre Dame Parish, located on Payne Street in Springvale. Interment with military honors will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.
