Thelma M. Vinson -- district court retiree
Thelma M. Vinson, 84, of Phillipsburg died Sunday, March 3, in Warren Hospital. She was department head for the Warren County District Court System in Belvidere for more than 27 years, retiring in 1988.
Born May 4, 1917, in Bangor, she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Anna Shook Maginnis.
She resided in Belvidere, moving to Phillipsburg 32 years ago. She was a 1935 graduate of Washington High School, where she played girls varsity basketball. She was a 50-year member of Washington Chapter 136, Order of the Eastern Star. She was a volunteer at Warren Hospital in Phillipsburg. She was a member of Easton Moose Lodge Ladies Auxiliary. She was a past president of Council 17, Civil Service Employees Association.
She was a member of Harmony Senior Citizens, Phillipsburg Senior Citizens and Stone Church Area Senior Citizens.
Her husband, Franklin J. Sr., died earlier. Her first husband, Melvin K. Burd, also died earlier.
She is survived by a son, Dennis M. Burd of Hardwick Township; a daughter, Judy A. Berberick of Plainfield Township; a brother, Theodore of Washington; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Lawrence and Herbert; and a sister, Aletha Baker, died earlier.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg. Call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday with Eastern Star services at 8 p.m. and from 10 a.m. Thursday to time of services in the funeral home. Burial will be in Belvidere Cemetery. |
