... Charles Lowe Jr., 82, of Holland Township died Thursday, Dec. 20, in Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township.

He worked as a delivery driver and landscaper for Stern Brothers Fuel Co. in Milford for more than 30 years. Before that, he owned and operated Charles Lowe Coal and Oil Co., in Finesville for more than 20 years.

Born June 27, 1919, in Warren Glen, he was a son of the late Charles Sr. and Katherine Andrews Lowe-Angst. He lived in Finesville before moving to Holland Township more than 30 years ago.

He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Riegelsville, where he was a deacon and a trustee.

He served as a pilot in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7857 in Milford, a past member of the Riegelsville Kiwanis Club and a former member of Farmers Sportsman Club in Holland Township. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, the former Elizabeth J. Rummel; a son, William C. of Raubsville; a daughter, Deborah M. Haydu of Stewartsville; a stepson Ronald Risley of Toms River; two sisters, Marie M. Densler of Phillipsburg and Anna Agnew of Milford; a stepsister, Frances Blessing of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a stepbrother, Raymond Angst of Warren Glen; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A brother, John "Jack"; a sister, Emma Snyder Walters; and a stepsister, Hazel Frey, died earlier.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. The W.E. Johnson Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township, is in charge of arrangements.
