Rev. H. H. Long Dies Suddenly
Former Pastor of County Congregations to be Buried Tomorrow
Rev. H. H. Long, for many years pastor of the Mt. Bethel charge
of the Reformed church, with congregations at Stone Church,
Martin’s Creek, Flicksville and Johnsonville, died quite
suddenly on Friday last at his home at Evans City, PA, where
he had been serving a charge for some time. He was 60 years
old.
Rev. Long was a native of Riegelsville and received his early
education in the schools of that vicinity. Later he was graduated
from Ursinus College and Central Theological Seminary. He was
ordained at Spring City, where he served his first charge and
then came to the Mt. Bethel charge where he served for many
years. After leaving there he went to Red Lion and from there
to Evans City, where he died. He had not been in good health
for several years but his death came suddenly.
He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Homer McEwen,
of Richmond; a son, Dr. Kenneth Long, and two sisters, Peter
Long, Miss Mary Long and Mrs. Tina Lake, all of Raubsville.
The body was brought to the home of his daughter, Mrs. McEwen
at Richmond, today and funeral services will be held at Mt.
Zion Reformed Church, Martin’s Creek tomorrow at Wotring,
D.D., of Nazareth, assisted by Rev. Edwin W. Lentz, D.D., of
Bangor, and Rev. George Bear, of Stone Church. Interment will
be made in Church Hill cemetery, Martin’s Creek.
