Walter D. Laubach -- of the Lutheran faith
Walter D. Laubach, 90, of 4450 Hanoverville Road, Lower Nazareth
Township, died Wednesday, May 24, in Muhlenberg Hospital
Center. He was a chemist at the former Nazareth Cement
Co., retiring in 1974 after 49 years. Born Jan. 9, 1910,
in Hecktown, Lower Nazareth Township, he was a son of the
late William and Minnie Fehnel Laubach.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hecktown, where
he was a secretary of Sunday school for 13 years, on church
council, the dart baseball league and the men's choir. He was
a member of the Lutheran Brotherhood for 60 years. He was a
member of the Hecktown Fire Co., a former board member for
Hecktown Cemetery, volunteer at Gracedale, the Northampton
County nursing home in Upper Nazareth Township, and a 60 year
member of PA Independent Order of ODD Fellows, where he was
a grand master and secretary for 20 years. He was an assistant
scoutmaster and secretary of Troop 22 in Hecktown and a former
coach for Hecktown AA baseball team.
His wife, the former Katherine Redline, died in 1985.
He is survived by two sons, ***** of Brownsville, Texas,
and ***** of Lower Nazareth Township; four grandchildren and
five great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Roy and Merritt; and
four sisters, Esther Lahr, Elda Roth, Dama Hartzell and Verna
Gardner, died earlier. |
