Richard Laubach, Retired Chemist for Penn-Dixie
Richard S. Laubach Sr., 70, a retired chemist at the Penn-Dixie
Cement Corp, Nazareth, died this morning at Easton Hospital.
He was admitted to the hospital Saturday after suffering a
cerebral hemorrhage at his home at East Lawn, Nazareth R.D.

Mr. Laubach began work in the cement industry about 1905.
He was for many years chief chemist at plant No. 4 and later
at plant No. 6 of the cement firm. He retired in November 1953.
Born in Georgetown, Lower Nazareth Township, on Nov 14, 1885,
he was a son of the late William and Sarah Knecht Laubach.
He was a lifelong resident of the Nazareth area.
Mr. Laubach was Republican committeeman in Upper Nazareth
Township. He was treasurer of Whitfield Lodge 622, F&AM,
Nazareth. He also was a member of Nazareth Lodge 1099, IOOF
and St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed Church, Nazareth.
Active in hunting and fishing, he was a member of the Nazareth’s
and Point Phillips Rod and Gun clubs.
Surviving are his widow, the former Hilda Scheffler; one son,
*****. of Nazareth; one sister, Mrs. Elmer
Smoyer, of Bath, and one granddaughter.
