Mrs. May L. Laubach Mansfield, widow of Frank Manfield, fo
this city, died at an early hour this morning at the home
of Mrs. Fredrick DeKraft, No. 148 West 70th Street, New
York City, where she had been visisting since last Friday.
Mrs. DeKraft was formerly Miss Bertha Xander, of this city.
Mrs. Mansfield had recently been resided with her niece,
Mrs. Frank Martinis, at Bethlehem, and had been a sufferer
from throat trouble for some time. She went to New York for
Xray examination and treatment and was taken ill suddenly
while there. The full particulars concerning her death were
not give in the message recieved by realtives at 4 o'clock
this morning.
Deceased was born in this city and was a daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Laubach. She was the last surviving
member of her family. On July 9th of last year her husband
was struck by trolley car Fifth and Northampton Streets
and died ten days later in the Easton Hosptial. The shock
and grief caused by the death of her husband seriously affected
Mrs. Mansfield's health.
She is survived by a niece, Mrs. Martinis, of Bethlehem
and by three mephews, Robert G. Ruseell and Paul H. Wilhelm,
of htis city. She was a faithful member of the First Reformed
Church and was active in the King's Daughters, of that congregaton.
During the war, she was captai of one of the Liberty loan
teams and did efficien work. She was amember of William Parsons
Chapter, No. 195, Order of Eastern Star and Siloam Shrine,
No. 13, White Shrine of Jersusalem.
The many friends of Mrs. Mansfield were shocked when the
news that she had passed away spread through the city. She
had a pleasing personality, her cheerfulness pervaded all
circles in which she moved and she will be greatly missed
by all who know here. The funeral arrangements will be announced
later.
