Hervy J. Kline, Leader In Mason, Former Head of Clothing
Store, Dies
Hervy J. Kline, Masonic leader who was president and general
manager of Hackett Inc., former Easton men’s clothiers,
died at 5:5p p.m. yesterday at the Cause Convalescent Home,
829 Northampton St. He was 81.
Mr. Kline had been in failing health since his retirement
in 1955. He had been a guest at the Causa Home since last
December.
Mr. Kline was associated with the Hackett form for 50 years.
He was active in Masonic Lodge affairs. He was a past master
of Easton Lodge 152, F&AM; past commander of Hugh dePayens
Commandery 19, Knights Templar; thrice illustrious master
of Pomp Council 20; and a member of Royal Arch Chapter 173
and Forest 35, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, all of Easton.
He also was a member of Easton Lodge 45, Moose and Lehicton
Lodge 244, Odd Fellows, Easton.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Easton.
Mr. Kline served as a member of the local board of the office
of Price Administration during World War II.
He was born April 7, 1879, in Lower Mt. Bethel Township,
a son of the late William A. and Mary Freeman Kline. His
wife, the former Carrie Happel, died in December 1957.
Mr. Kline resided at 183 Lachenour Ave., Easton, during
the years he was associated with the Hackett firm. After
his retirement he mad his home with a son-in-law and daughter,
Mr. and Mrs. Harry C. Gorman, at 704 Fourth St., Belvidere.
Surviving besides Mrs. Gorman are another daughter, Mrs.
Morgan F. Kreiss, Wilson; two sisters, Mrs. Adam Miller,
Winter Park, Fla., and Mrs. Joseph Hammond, Bradenton, Fla.;
three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He also leaves
seven nieces and one nephew.
The funeral will beheld at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Ashton
Funeral Home, Easton, with interment following in Easton
Cemetery.
Easton Lodge 152, F&AM, will conduct Masonic services
at 8 p.. tomorrow at the funeral home.
