Russell (Nig) Kiefer, Formerly operated West Ward Store
Russell J. (Nig) Keifer, 71, of 190 Williams St., Alpha, died
Satruday afternoon in warren Hospital several hours after being
admitted.
Mr. Kiefer was employed until his retirement five years ago
as a carpenter by his son-in-law, George Hackett, Alpha Contractor.
He had at one time operated a neighborhood grocery at 12th
and Ferry Streets, Easton.
He was born March 22, 1894, in Easton, a son of the late Gilbert
T. and Laura M. Beck Kiefer.
He was a veteran of World War I. Having served with the Rainbow
Division.
Survivng are his widow, the former Hazel M. Gernert Brotzman;
two stepdaughters, Mildred, wife of Geroge Hackett, Alpha,
and Jean, wife of John Daneels, Easton; a stepson, Chester
F. Brotzman, Easton; eight grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild,
and a nephew, Ralph J. Kiefer, Easton.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Hagerty
Colonial Home, Phillispburg. |
