Nazareth Woman A Suicide
Hanged Herself When She Realized She Could Not Get Well
Miss Nellie Kiefer, of Nazareth, committed suicide this morning by hanging in a stable in the rear of her father’s home, on Walnut Street, that borough. Her father, William Kiefer, found her body hanging from a rope fastened to a rafter, shortly after life had become extinct.
Miss Kiefer had been sickly for several years. Thinking she would not recover, the young woman became melancholy, and had to be constantly watched. She had been taken to different parts of the country this summer, with the hope of improving her health, but to no avail. This morning she escaped the vigilance of her family, slipped to the stable and ended her life. The deceased was 40 years old and is survived by her father, William Kiefer, and the following brothers and sisters; Gustav Kiefer and William Kiefer, of Nazareth; Charles Keifer, of Charleston, W. Va.; Mrs. Floyd R. Michler, of Easton, and Floyd Kiefer, of Sellersville; also by two step-sisters, Mrs. Amandus Stout, of Nazareth, and Mrs. Harry Gross, of Easton. |
