Heart Attack Proves Fatal to George W. Kiefer
President of Business Association Passes Suddenly
George W. Kiefer, of Morris and Prospect Street, who was president of the Phillipsburg Co-operative Business Association was stricken with a heart attack on Saturday night at his oil and gas station at the above address and died at 10:55 o’clock that night.
Mr. Kiefer had been in ill health for some months. Last Summer he was ill for some weeks, unable to leave his home. He was born in Harmony and had lived in Phillipsburg for 35 years. He one time conducted a tire business in Easton and also was in the automobile business in Easton and Phillipsburg in the past.
He was always active in public affairs, was a member of the Phillipsburg Civic Association and was a Justice of the Peace in the Fifth Ward, Phillipsburg. He was secretary and treasurer of the Warren County Association of Justices of the Peace.
As head of the Business Association, he was persistent in his efforts to better conditions in Phillipsburg. He had a wide circle of friends and acquaintances.
He is survived by his widow and a sister, Mrs. Lillie Kiefer, of Phillipsburg and a niece, Miss Sarah Witter, of Phillipsburg.
