Clarence Kiefer Sr., Dies; Just Given Coplay Post
Clarence S. Kiefer, Sr., 62, of 108 S. Front St., Coplay, died Wednesday in Allentown Hospital Less than a week after he was appointed a borough councilman.
Borough Council last week named him to fill a seat left vacant by the resignation of Al Recker.
Kiefer was in Allentown Hospital at the time.
He made an unsuccessful bid for council seat in the spring primary, and was appointed to that position during an executive session of council Sept. 29.
He was a former road foreman, constable and fire chief of the borough, retiring in 1966 after 20 years of service to the community.
Born in West Catasauqua, he was a son of the late Henry and Laura (Frey) Kiefer.
Surviving with his widow, the former Emma I. Mulzet, are two sons,***** of Northampton R. 2; *****, at home; two daughters, *****, wife of ***** of Salisbury, Md., and ***** wife of ***** of Whitehall; a brother Paul of Muncy, Pa; a sister, Mrs. Henrietta Raysley of North Catasauqua and eight grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Robert A. Hauke Funeral Home, 4th and Chestnut Streets, Coplay, Calling hours will be 7-9 p.m. Friday. |
