Fatally Stricken On Fishing Trip
Layton Kautz, of Stroudsburg, Once lIved Here
Layton Kautz, 54 years old of Bryant Street, Stroudsburg,
formerly of Easton and Bangor, died suddenly at 7 o'clock
last evening while on his way to the Pocono Creek where
he planned ot fish. Mr. Kautz was with his son James, and
Richard and Raymond Lee, when death occurred.
They had been crossing a number of fields on their way to
the stream when they noticed that Mr. Kautz was lagging behind.
Later, when he did not answer a call, they truned back to find
that he had collapsed. An ambulance was called and, on examination,
it was found that he was dead.
Mr. Kautz had been associated with many trades, but was, for
the past several years an antique dealer. He was a skilled
cabinet maker and painter. A son, of the late Mr. and Mrs.
James Kautz, the deceased was very well known throught Monroe
county, He is survived by his widow, a son, James, a brother,
Paul; two sisters, Mrs. C. H. Meichner and Mrs. Warren Lee,
all of Stroudsburg. He was active in St. John's Lutheran Church,
Stroudsburg.
