Verna H. Pensyl, 87, of 101 Murray St., Bangor, died Wednesday
in Easton Hospital. She was the wife of the late Frank D. Pensyl.
She was a substitute teacher in the Easton Area School District
for many years, and also taught in one-room school houses in
Lower Mount Bethel Township and other rural areas. She later
was a crossing guard for the Wilson Area School District for
17 years, retiring six years ago.
She was a graduate of the former East Stroudsburg State Teachers
College.
Born in Martins Creek, she was a daughter of the late William
and Mary (Schuler) Hyde.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Martins
Creek.
Survivors: Son, Frank C. of Palmer Township; daughter, Joan
Englert of Martins Creek; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, James J. Palmeri Funeral Home,
Route 611 and Alpha Avenue, Martins Creek. Call 10-11 a.m.
