Miriam A. Gardner
Miriam A. Gardner, 72, of 125-22 S. Delaware Drive in Easton, died Thursday in Easton Nursing Center.
She retired as co-manager of Minnich’s Card and Gift Shop in Easton. Prior to that, she was employed by Sterling Glove Mill in Bangor, Pa., Magnetic Windings in Palmer Township, Pa, Delightform in West Easton, Weller Electric in Palmer Township and Regal Press in Easton, the first female offset press operator in the area.
She was also the first store manager of Hickory Farms of Ohio in the Palmer mall and assisted the company in setting up and operating new stores in several locations in eastern Pennsylvania.
Born Jan 25, 1919 in Edleman, Pa., she was a daughter of the late David T. and Martha Frack Humphrey.
She attended Nazareth High School.
She was a member of Forks united church of Christ in Forks Township, Pa., where she was one of the first female members of the church consistory and was active in the Sunday school for many years.
She was also active with a Brownie Troop of Girl Scouts of America at Memorial United Church of Christ in Wilson Borough, Pa.
She and her husband, Frederick E. Gardner, observed their 53rd Wedding anniversary on May 28.
In addition to her husband she is survived by two daughters, ***** of Akron, Pa and **** of Mechanicsburg, pa.; two brothers, John T. of Nazareth R. R. and Rev. David E. of Pen Argyl, R.R. four grandsons, and a granddaughter, a niece and a nephew.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in forks UCC in Stockertown, pa. The stunk Funeral Home in Easton is in charge of arrangements. |
