J. C. Houser, Paymaster At Silk Mill
Joseph C. Houser, 84, of 489 Corliss AVe., Phillipsburg, died
yesterday in Eastwood Convalescent Home, Wilson, where he had
beena guest since January 1975.
Mr. Houser was head paymaster for the old Standard /Silk Mill
and theSanco-Piece Dye Works in Phillipsburg for 56 years.
He was elast empoloyed in the accounting department of the
New ersey Bank, Phillipsburg.
Born in Phillipsburg, Feb. 11, 1892, he was a son of the late
John H. and Anna Weaver Hosuer, He lived in Phillispburg all
his life.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Easton; a 60-year
member of Delaware Lodge 52 F&AM; Eagle Capter 30, RAM;
Scottish Rite, Valley of Trenton; Crescent temple Shrine, Trenton;
West Jersey Shrine Club; Bernadine-May American Legion 457,
Phillipsburg, and the Lehigh Valley Coin Club, Easton.
He was a Navy veteran, and served during World War I.
His wife, the former Lillie Ottenbacher, died in 1968, hIs
only survivor is a sister, Miss LIllian M. Houser, with whom
he resided.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Rupell funeral
Home, Philliposburg. Interment will be in Easton Cemtery. Delaware
Lodge 52, F&AM, will conduct masonic services at 8 p.m.
