Harry Garis, of 488 Berwick Street, a well-known resident of
the South Side, died at 10:15 o'clock this morning at the
Easton Hospital following an illness of a month. Mr. Garis
was taken ill first with a severe attack of grip and later
pneumonia developed. He had apparently recovered from the
latter illness when he suffered a relapse and his condition
then became such that it was necessary to remove him to the
hospital last Friday night. Yesterday morning he suffered
a stroke of paralysis and his condition became gradually
worse until death ensued this morning.
Mr. Garis for the past 42 years had been engaged as a night
watchman at the Lehigh Valley shops and was well and favorable
known among the many employees of that company.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Amanda Garis, the following
children; Joseph, Irwin, General N, Miss Ida and Mrs. Albert
Coates, all of the South Side and a brother, Frank Garis, of
Glendon Heights. He was a member of St. Peter's Reformed church
and the Lehigh Valley Relief Association and the Lehigh Valley
Veteran's Association. |
