Funeral of Mrs. Mengel
The funeral of Mrs. Laura Mengel, wife of Francis Mengel, was held
at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon from her home, 1082 Berwick Street,
Rev. W. S. Rehrer, pastor of Bethany Evangelical Church, officiating
at the services. Burial was made in Hay's cemetery. Relatives served
as pallbearers.

Francis H. Mengel, of 1082 Berwick Street, a retired Lehigh Valley
Railroad Engineer, died at 7. o'clock this morning at Easton Hospital,
following a serious illness of two weeks. He was admitted to the hospital
on April 30 for medical treatment.
Mr. Mengel was a native of Frackville where he was born on March 20,
1882. He had been employed as a fireman and engineer on the Lehigh
Valley from Dec 26, 1912 until June 22, 1936, when he retired because
of ill health. His wife Laura Mae Frankenfield Mengel died in 1919.
Surviving him are four children: The Rev Harry W. Mengel, of Matamoras,
Robert E. Mengel, of Easton; Mrs. William J. Starkey, of Easton, and
Miss Evelyn M. Mengel, at home; four brothers; Robert H. Mengel, and
Dr. Oscar H. Mengel, of Frackville; Howard H. Mengel, of Tatamy and
Walter H. Mengel of Easton; a sister, Mrs. Charles Kitchel, of Easton,
and three grandchildren.
He was a member of Christ Evangelical Church and Division 211, B.
of L. F. and E.
