Palmer Man Suffers Fatal Heart Attack After Crash Kills Son and Grandson
Wilson Campbell of Palmer Township was stricken with a fatal heart attack yesterday, six hours after his son and grandson were killed in a traffic accident. He was 69
Mr. Campbell died in Easton Hospital at 2:10 p.m. He was taken there after being stricken at his home, 503 Greenwood Ave. He suffered the attack at 11:45 a.m.
Mr. Campbell’s son, Sterling C. Campbell, 46, and his grandson, Clifford W. Campbell, 18 were killed early yesterday when their car and a tractor-trailer collided on the Bushkill Park-Tatamy Road.
Father, son and grandson lived together.
The eldest Mr. Campbell was stricken while talking with member of his family, with him were his sister, Miss Bessie Campbell, of Easton; a niece, Mrs. Daniel Cavanaugh, of Wilson, and the Rev. Peter S. Wendell, pastor of South Presbyterian Church, Easton. He had no history of a heart condition.
He was taken to the hospital by the Suburban Rescue Squad of Palmer Township.
Mr. Campbell was employed by the Onandaga Silk Co., Inc. and its predecessor, the Simon Silk Co., for 50 years. He retired four years ago.
Born on Oct 4, 1891, in Bethlehem Township, he was a son of the late Thomas and Lillian Rothrock Campbell.
He was of the Lutheran faith. He was a member of the Palmer Township Fire Co.
Surviving in addition to his sister, Bessie, are five other sisters, Mrs. Ella Kinciad, Mrs. Maude Wilson and Miss Alice Campbell, both of Philadelphia, and Mrs. Elmira Banko and Mrs. Emma Garis, both of Easton, two brothers, Thomas and harry, both of Easton, and a granddaughter, Mrs. Susan Trauger, Easton.
His son Sterling, was co-owner of the Plaza Roller Rink at Harmony.
Amount the survivors of Clifford W. Campbell is his maternal grandfather, Allen F. LaRose Sr., Easton.
A Triple funeral will be held at 12 p.m.; Monday at the Shillinger Funeral Home, Easton. |
