Burns in Mishap On Farm Fatal to Easton R.D.4 Boy
R.D. Walter Buttner Jr., 13, of Easton R.D.4, died yesterday at 2;30 p.m. in Easton Hospital. The boy was admitted June 3 after suffering burns in an accident at his farm home.
Gasoline ignited while he was pouring it into the tank of a tractor. He suffered first, second and third degree burns. He had been in critical condition in the hospital since the accident.
The youth, with his shirt blazing, ran across the road to a neighbor who ripped off the burning clothing and administered first aid. The boy's mother was working in the field where he had intended to take the tractor. His father was working at the Bethlehem Steel Co.
Born in Easton R.D.4, Nov 22, 1941, the youth was the son of Robley D.W. and Stella Mae Fluck Buttner. He was a seventh grade student at Wilson High School and attended Sunday School at St. John's Lutheran Church, Williams Township.
Surviving, besides his parents, are three sisters, *****, of Easton R.D. 4, and ***** and *****, at home, and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Floyd B. Fluck, of Hellertown R.D. 1.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at the Strunk Funeral Home, Easton. |
