Found dead near Garage
Prall Beam victim of Heart attack While in Auto
Prall Beam 47 years old who resided at the Jacoby apartments
Sixth and Northampton Streets was found dead at the wheel of
his automobile shortly after 10 o'clock this morning at the
doors of the his garage on Spruce street, near Sixth.
Death was due to a heart attack, Dr. Theodore Reichbaum, deputy
coroner, stated after an examination. The body was turned over
to the undertaker P. F. Hagerty of Phillipsburg.
Beam was stricken after he had backed his automobile out of
the garage and had locked the doors. Mrs. Emma Frank, of 517
Spruce Street, saw the machine parked across the alley but
thought nothing of it as Beam was on the custom of working
on his automobile after taking it out of the garage. After
it had remained in one positon for two hours with the motor
running. Mrs. Frank thought there was something strange and
walked over to the machine where she found Beam sprawled over
the wheel.
She notified Frank Petrollo, of 522 Ferry street, owner of
the garage in which the Beam car was parked when in turn called
the police. Seargant Hawk responded and he was later joined
by Chief Frederick and Captain Menikheim.
Neighbors said Beam had suffered a slight paralytic stoke
about a week ago but had apprently recovered. He was know to
have suffered from heart trouble.
He was engaged in the hauling business, operating several
trucks in New Jersey.
Two daughers, Mrs. Elizabeth Garrison, North Main Street,
Phillipsburg and Miss Mildred Beam of Chicago, survive him. |
