Oscar S. Beam
Oscar S. Beam, of Delaware, telegraph operator at Swartswood
Junction on the New York, Susquehanna and Western Railroad,
died suddenly while on duty yesterday afternoon,. Whe he went
to work in the morning, he compalined of feeling ill, and his
wife accompanied hime, so he would not be alone at his station.
She was with hime when he was fateally sticken. Coroner George
McCloughan, of Newton, issued a certificate of death due to
a heart attack.
He was a native of Delawre and lived there the greater part
of his life, but spend some time at Pompton Lakeds. He also
operated service station at Delaware. He served as postmaster
at Delaware for several terms.
He was a member of the F. and A. M. and the Junior Mechanics,
at Pompton Lakes, and of the Nobles of theMystic Shrine, of
Trenton. He was employed by the railroad for more than thirty
years.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Carrie Hillyard Beam and
a sister, Mrs. Joseph V.Stout, of Delaware. |
