Clarence Stocker, sports organizer
Clarence J. Stocker, founder of several area sports organizations,
died Tuesday at 11:55 a.m. in the Life Care Center of Northa
Glendale, North Glendale, Ariz.
Stocker, 90, of 1517 College Ave., founded College Manor Swimming
pool, 17th and Rockland streets: Berks Lebanon Seniors Gold
Association: and the Berks County Tennis League.
He also owned and operated the former Stocker's Racket Shop,
Reading.
His wife, Anna B. (Brown) Stocker, died March 21, 1996.
Born in Blairsville, Indiana County, he was a son of the late
Clarence M. and Mary (Jacobs) Stocker.
For 52 years he was employed by the former I. H. Focht & Sons
Co., retiring as construction csuperintendent in 1975.
He was a member of Nativity Lutheran Church.
Sotkcer was a life member of the Carpenter's Union, Local
492.
He was a 1924 graduate of the former Reading Boys High School.
Surviving are a son, *****, Gelendale, Ariz.,
and a daughter, *****, Cape May Court House,
NJ.
Other survivors include a brother, John Stocker, Pompano Beach,
Fla. and two sisters, M. Elizabeth Rohrbach, Reading, and Margaret,
wife of Peter Vale, Detroit.
There are also three grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. in Nativity Lutheran
Church. Burial will be in Fleetwood Cemetery, Walter R. Christ
Funeral Home, Inc. Laureldale, is in charge of arrangments. |
