Joseph Gaffney, a veteran of the World War, was fatally injured shortly before 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon when he fell from Glendon Hill to the tracks of the Lehigh Valley Railroad Company. He sustained a fractured skull and was taken to the Easton Hospital where he died at 1:45 o’clock this morning.
It was shortly before the accident that Mr. Gaffney left his home in company with his pet dog. Friends had seen him with the dog just before his unconscious body was found by trackmen of the Lehigh Valley Railroad.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Gaffney with whom he resided at 132 East Nesquehoning street, and the following sisters and brothers; Mrs. Thomas Langan, of Wilkes-Barre street; Miss Anne Gaffney, at home, and Thomas, Frank and James all of this city.
Mr Gaffney served throughout the World War with Company B. 167th infantry. He was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. |
