Funeral of Mr. Buzzard
The funeral of the late Edward Buzzard of Stroudsburg, was held from his late home on Broad Street, this afternoon at 2 o’clock, with Rev. J. Bruce Mackay, officiating.
Mr. Buzzard, the first rural deliver mail carrier in the county, had been sick for about two weeks, having caught a cold while visiting his son, Dr. Floyd Buzzard, of Altoona.
He was retired from his position as mail carrier about a year ago after 25 years of faithful service, during which time he covered about 150,000 miles, using a horse and carriage for many years and later using an automobile. During that time he made many friends.
He was a member and secretary of Washington Camp, 235, P.O. S. of A., a member of the Sons of Union Veteran, St. John’s Commandery, Knights of Malta and the Rural Carriers Association. He was also a faithful member of the Stroudsburg M. E. church.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Whitesell Buzzard, two sons, Floyd, Altoona and Russell, Washington, D. C. and brother Street Commissioner Eli Buzzard and two grandchildren.
